As part of our mission to empower members of the community and allow their voices to be heard, we have developed some workshops and educational programmes targeted at different audiences.
You may have already seen, we have restarted the Our Voice Filmmaking Club. Through regular club workshops and online tutorials, members are learning new skills and embracing opportunities to take part in community filmmaking projects. Recently, we were also lucky enough to work with the Dorset History Centre in a workshop covering the basics of how light and sound can enhance videos. We have also conducted similar workshops for groups of young people in schools and scout troops.
An exciting development within our educational work is an upcoming series of workshops with a team from Dorset Council who are looking to build the skills of eight selected people within the organisation. These workshops will take place over the course of 4-weeks, and consist of 2-hour online workshops. With a single facilitator, the group will learn basic filmmaking skills including framing shots, making the best use of light, how to ensure a high quality of sound, storyboarding, and planning as well as an introduction to editing.
